On paper, PFIs looked clever — balance the books without raising taxes. But there’s no magic solution in healthcare.

The Conservatives scrapped PFIs in 2018. At the time, Chancellor Hammond said there was compelling evidence that:
PFIs neither "delivers value for the taxpayer [nor] genuinely transfers risks to the private sector".

Tony Blair/Gordon Brown start the problem with PFIs, changing dentist contracts etc. The Tories continued the decline and this Labour government have done nothing to remedy any of the issues.
