this is the first project im setting up for my plex server, BTW. the ripping is slow because i keep forgetting settings.

Made a Plex acc and even its free RO library is impressive* btw
*Very little modern stuff but has a ton of old movies (rights probably cheaper to buy). For ex it has a full Kurosawa library (except Seven Samurai lol, which was probably bought by other more financially strong streaming service)

In fact, that’s exactly why I’ve stayed loyal to Plex all this time: streaming outside the LAN and music playing via Plexamp are exceptional (at least with the lifetime Plex Pass I was lucky enough to buy at a reasonable price 14 years ago).

For a self-hosted service, authentication on the LAN MUST NOT GO THROUGH THE INTERNET. For now, I’ve added Jellyfin alongside Plex; we’ll see how it goes.

It’s unacceptable that the media library on the LAN is practically inaccessible without an internet connection.
