For #POD24 people: I am not at the conference and not a Chicagoan, but someone who visits the city several times a year: Make sure you get over to Chinatown. Half hour walk or a quick train ride. The food will blow your mind.

Catching up on some podcast listening after #POD24, and I'm glad I didn't listen to these episodes before the election. That said, if the US election of 2024 befuddles you and makes you wonder how we got here, The Rest Is History's 6-part episode on the US in 1968 is sad but enlightening.
One of my favorite lessons of day 1 of #POD24 came at the end: share your “moments of discovery” with your students, those moments when your discipline first “clicked.”

Follicular lymphoma patients can now benefit from a new predictive model, FLIPI-C, that identifies high-risk cases using simple health markers like blood levels and lymph involvement. This machine learning model outperforms existing ones and could guide treatment and improve survival chances.

Soooo is there no online conference option for #pod24? I'm admittedly more offline than usual right now, but was surprised to see a CFP for an in-person POD conference, but not an online one. Seems like kind of a step backwards on the inclusion front! 🤔
