I don't actually think it'd be impossible to organize Democratic elected officials to boycott X.
I think all it would take is 4-5 of Indivisible, MoveOn, WFP, the ACLU, SEIU, PPFA, and a few similarly influential orgs calling on Dems to leaving and committing to do so together.

In recent days, PPFA was made aware that reporters from multiple outlets, including Autonomy News, were working on a story falsely alleging that Planned Parenthood would step back from abortion provision in an attempt to preserve Medicaid. The reporters were also made privy to confidential conversations within the Federation.
PPFA released a statement to ensure Planned Parenthood patients, supporters, donors, and partners heard the truth directly from us.
Tonight, Autonomy News published its story (attached) with these false accusations.

Still donate to local PPs, they run the majority of clinics and need to pay doctors and buy medicine. Don't donate to PPFA, they are limiting funds to chapters to pay for nonessential things.

Anyway, it's not clear that interested affiliates dropping abortion care would save them in the long run given that PPFA is a major provider of gender-affirming care, as well as far-right groups' views on IUDs and emergency contraception
It feels unrealistic to think that these people won’t come after Medicaid funding for PP no matter what. “Be Columbia” is not a winning strategy. Meanwhile I am old enough to remember earlier this year when four PP clinics closed in Illinois, a state I am sure they’ll try to advertise for.

One little thing that proves your point: Leana Wen was president of PPFA in 2018-19 and argued that abortion wasn't important. We all know exactly how well that went and that was when I learned about local abortion funds and not giving money to PPFA.
