Side view of some terraces makes for some more rectangular patterns.

A side-on view of limestone terraces from a thermal feature at Yellowstone. Lots of almost rectangular shapes, near the top it is more obvious that water is flowing over/down them. The colors are very pale and light, particularly near the side of the image, with browns and pinks.

One of the most amazing rock art panels I've had the privilege of witnessing, made more special by having been shown it by a late mentor.

(There were some panels defaced recently nearby, but not IIUC this one. I expect that the difficulty in reaching it is a factor.)

You might think that standing alone on the rim of a deep volcanic cone that I might find something more interesting than a sliver of rock on frosted soil, but
