Define "dark magic." Dealing with the absence of visible light? Not from faith in and prayer to the Christian God? Intended to do harm? Necromancy? Bargaining with malevolent outsiders? Regardless, what "trans people" have access to should be exactly the same as what "people" have access to.

You do not have to be
at the morning
to trust the God
who meets you in the night.

Sometimes
all you can say is,
“Make haste, O God.”

That is still prayer.
That is still faith.

The God who heard David
has not changed.

The night
does not win.

Day 276—Praised from the Ruins
Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning. David didn't write that from an easy life. He wrote it from the pit—and then couldn't keep it to himself.

the pope doesn't even to explicitly utter Voltaire's prayer of "O Lord, make my enemies ridiculous", it just happens automatically by virtue of office

Pray this Scripture-based night prayer when you feel alone and ask God to comfort your heart, quiet your thoughts, and remind you of His faithful presence.
Prayer When You Feel Alone
Prayer When You Feel Alone 0:00 /434.725828 1× * * * Sometimes the hardest part of the day comes when everything gets quiet. You’ve stayed busy, answered messages, and taken care of what needed to be done. Then evening arrives, and you wish there were someone beside you, to ask how you’re doing and stay long enough to hear the answer. Perhaps you’re missing someone you love. A relationship has changed, or you’re going through something you don’t know how to explain. You may have people around you and still feel lonely. Wanting companionship and comfort is nothing to be ashamed of. You can bring that longing to God tonight. You don’t have to find beautiful words or pretend you feel better than you do. A simple prayer is enough: _“Lord, I feel alone. I miss being close to someone. Please help me through tonight.”_ Scripture assures us that God will not leave or forsake His people. His presence does not make your need for human connection less real, but it gives you somewhere to turn while you wait, grieve, or find your way toward others. Before you sleep, tell Him what you miss and what you need. Ask for comfort, for rest, and for the courage to reach out to someone who cares. You can come to Him just as you are, trusting that you are loved even on a night when love feels far away. ## Remember: Even the night is not dark to God. _“If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night; Even the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”_ Psalm 139:11-12 **Let us pray.** Father God, I come before You tonight with a heart that feels lonely. You know the pain I carry. You know the quiet places within me that long for comfort, connection, understanding, and peace. You see me fully, even when I feel unseen by others. Lord, thank You that I do not have to hide my loneliness from You. I do not have to pretend I am fine. You don't need me to explain everything perfectly for You to understand. You know my thoughts before I speak them. You know my heart before I open it you and you are near to me now. Father, the night feels quiet, but I ask You to fill this quiet with Your presence. Let this room become a place where I remember that I am not abandoned. Let the stillness become a reminder that You are close and let the darkness become a place where Your love shines with comfort, hope, and truth. Your Word says that even darkness is not dark to You. The night shines as the day before You. So I ask You to meet me here tonight. Meet me in the silence. Meet me in the ache. Meet me in the places where my heart feels tender, tired, or forgotten. Lord, remind me that You will never leave me nor forsake me. When loneliness says I am alone, let Your truth speak louder. When sadness says no one sees me, remind me that You see me completely. When fear says I will always feel this way, remind me that Your presence is with me in this moment and Your grace will meet me in the days ahead. Father, comfort my heart. Wrap me in the assurance of Your love. Let me sense Your nearness in a deep and personal way. Help me rest not only in the truth that You are everywhere, but in the promise that You are with me. I surrender the loneliness I have carried today. I surrender the moments that made me feel forgotten. I surrender the relationships that feel distant. I surrender the conversations I wish had happened, the comfort I wish I had received, and the pain I don't know how to fix. Lord, be my Shepherd tonight. Restore my soul. Lead me beside still waters. Walk with me through every valley. Even if I feel alone, help me know that I am not alone. Your rod and Your staff comfort me. Your presence steadies me. Your love surrounds me. You make me lie down in green pastures. You lead me beside still waters. Father, heal the places in my heart where loneliness has turned into discouragement, bitterness, fear, or shame. Do not let isolation harden me. Do not let disappointment close my heart. Keep me tender. Keep me hopeful. Keep me open to the ways You want to comfort and connect me with others. Bring the right people into my life according to Your wisdom and timing. Give me courage to reach out when I need help. Give me wisdom to receive love when it is offered. Give me patience in seasons of waiting and discernment in relationships. Surround me with people who reflect Your kindness, truth, and grace. Lord, I pray for others who feel alone tonight. Be near to the grieving, the single, the widowed, the separated, the sick, the elderly, the misunderstood, the rejected, and those carrying burdens no one else knows about. Let them feel Your comfort. Let them know they are seen, loved, and not forgotten. Father, quiet my thoughts as I prepare to sleep. If my mind begins to rehearse sadness, lead me back to Your promises. If my heart begins to feel heavy, lift my eyes to Your faithfulness. If tears come, remind me that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You catch what others may never see. Thank You for being a present God. Thank You for staying when others cannot. Thank You for understanding what words cannot express. Thank You for loving me in the hidden places and holding me through the quiet hours. Tonight, I choose to rest in Your presence and believe that I am not forgotten. I choose to trust that You are with me in this room, in this season, and in every moment ahead. I choose Your comfort over despair and Your truth over loneliness. Let my sleep be peaceful. Let my heart be comforted. Let my mind be still. Let my soul rest in the shadow of Your wings. And when morning comes, let me wake with renewed hope, fresh mercy, and the deep assurance that I am loved by You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Those who study and write about the New Apostolic Reformation #NAR and other Christian dominionist movements mention how difficult it is to get anyone to take these movements seriously. How, with everything else going on, are we to find time to worry about...

1 Amid Jonathan Freedland's kaddish prayer for his late father, I and many other Jewish people mourn for a past when the Guardian ran less specious pieces. It defends Israel's sovereignty, but ducks the extreme unlikeliness that a PM emerges soon from its elections who backs a Palestinian state.
