4) your games will probably work, proton has been a godsend. check protondb if you want to make sure, otherwise wine can work a lot of magic (tho that's not a guarantee and it can be finicky)

100% the reason why I trust places like protondb or steamdeckhq more than steam's own "verified" tag
Elden ring is like 25 to 30fps on Steam deck and devours the battery. Their metrics for Great On Deck put more emphasis on things like the correct button glyph colors over stable framerate and deck-tailored default settings

by far the best thing about the Steam Deck is that it managed to do well enough to attract a large community of people who are much smarter than me and can just upload control configs for games that don't use standard gamepad controls directly to steam or compatibility info to protondb

Going all in on Linux. Gaming PC was last one. Wiping drive and installing Bazzite. Been so enamored with SteamOS and streaming from my PC. I don't play any games with anti-cheat, and all the games I care about are Gold or Platinum on ProtonDB. Might keep Mint on my laptop for the time being though.
