This is illegal and will be shut down. PSFL was passed by an act of Congress, Trump can’t change the terms. A judge will eventually toss this.

So, if you want to get factual, I actually made 13 years of on-time payments before I finally got my PSFL application approved. I'm still very lucky to have got it.

With a federal shutdown, student loan payments are still due but final approvals for PSFL and any sort of forgiveness look to be on hold.

I'm at 96 qualifying PSFL payments.
I have 11 that would qualify under buyback so far.
So that's 13 more months of 'payments', under existing rules, if I understand it correctly.
Still sitting in SAVE with no payments right now.

And it's so hard to get PSFL for vet school! Our vet, who is practicing shelter med at a nonprofit, so checking ALL the boxes, is fighting for her life with the feds on this one.

This is awesome. I hope the same thing happens for me. I took a break from working in public service for 7 years and now I'm back doing it and those payments aren't counting toward my PSFL number which is not cool.

For those that don't know.. There is a buyback program if you meet the requirements for PSFL. I have 3 months left and do not trust the next admin to honor it so ill eat the cost now if approved. But I strongly suggest if you have a few months left apply now and eat it

I wish this were me right now. I have 17 months until my PSFL is at the 120 months. This is infuriating because they don't count the years I paid my loans when I was in-between service jobs that are included with this forgiveness.
