It has been 90 years since the first three hurricanes all became major hurricanes. For additional context, the average date of third major hurricane formation is October 28 -- this is over a month ahead of climatology.

It has been 90 years since the first three hurricanes all became major hurricanes. For additional context, the average date of third major hurricane formation is October 28 -- this is over a month ahead of climatology.

I’m liking those models that show soon-to-be-named Imelda turning off to the east. I’m not liking the one that has it going west right over me on the GA/SC line. We’re still recovering from Helene.

PTC9 is now Tropical Depression 9. Significant change in the cone. Which is still enormous (not because the size of the storm, but the possible paths the storm may take). #TropicalWx #Tropics #hurricanes

Right now, Hurricane John has made landfall and is dissipating. The upper-level low is sliding west as PTC9 is heading its way. So shear is reducing, and PTC9 is making a run at organizing today.
