To be fair, they couldn't hold PVDFest that first June because (AFAICT) they'd fired everyone who knew how to run PVDFest during the transition.

I'm sure that too, but there was a Joe Wilson interview during the debacle where he said they didn't have the capacity to pull off a June PVDFest, and it's always struck me as underreported *why* they lacked the capacity.

The first PVDFest announcement when he was like “well, we talked to some business owners and they wanted it moved” was also a great example of that.

From purely a publicity perspective, September is when the rest of the cultural calendar tends to return from summer break. This, plus Back to School, seems to drown out the attention PVDFest could have gotten.

Does anyone remember the Smiley admin's rationale for moving PVDFest from mid-summer to September?
Seems to me to have been an unforced error that draws attention *away* from the fest, rather than to it. I'm forgetting how they sold it.
I'm open to hearing arguments why September is better tho.

The end of PVDFest was rained out and I guess to be fair to the Mayor it’s the one thing that was wrong with it that wasn’t his fault.

Hey Lil’ Rhody! The most important thing to know this @pvd.fest weekend is that you can & should go to vote.sos.ri.gov to check your voter registration. Last day to register is Oct 4th. Vote early starting Oct 14th! Oh, and have an awesome #pvdfest today! It’s going to be a beautiful one!

We stopped by PVDFest & loved seeing the huge show of support for better transit. It was amazing to see so much community support for more transit options, more trains, & more frequent service between Providence & New Haven.
