To recap: leaked MoH presentation claims "significant" diversion & trafficking of PSS opioids, identifies docs & pharmacists as prime suspects, no mention of PWUD. In response, MoH punishes PWUD by mandating witnessed dosing while rewarding pharmacists with dispensing fee windfall.

The last couple years there has been an uptick in fake pills circulating (at least based on HC seizure data). I worry that newer PWUD are not familiar with fake pills and will assume they are pharmaceutical grade.

So, funny thing about that leaked MoH briefing. It was actually a PowerPoint slide deck, and this is the slide that effectively killed safer supply in BC. Note the mention of doctors & pharmacists "freely prescribing", but no mention of PWUD doing anything except not getting their scripts.

Biosensors for PWUD is still a technology in its early days, and this study illustrates there are many quality of life improvements to be made.
Nevertheless, biosensing for drug overdose is feasible and could prove to be another harm reduction strategy to prevent overdose.

I mean I held a lot more stigma towards PWUD before homelessness /me coping with trauma with a legal substance + my type of upbringing broke down my own biases (also just activism/listening to folks)
