Residents and a MidAmerican representative traded technical and policy claims about a proposed 50 MW, ~400-acre solar facility. Supporters cited jobs and tax revenue; opponents raised concerns about setbacks, floodplain/runoff and transparency. MidAmerican offered a draft agreement to address issues while the county considers ordinance revisions.

A public commenter told the Page County Board of Supervisors that MidAmerican Energy filed an Iowa Utilities Commission application seeking a generating certificate and waivers that could bypass the county’s December 2024 solar ordinance; supervisors discussed options including leaving the ordinance intact, making a one‑project exception, or retaining outside counsel to represent the county at the IUC.

Board members said MidAmerican provided a marked-up version of the county's solar ordinance and will hold a June 30 informational meeting; members voiced concern the Iowa Utilities Board could bypass local ordinances and raised farmland-conversion and governance questions.
