I saw a recommendation to set pagefile to 1.5 - 3x of RAM, which in this case implies a minimum of 92GB maximum 192GB

With the pagefile disabled you're testing how much memory Windows uses, while with the pagefile enabled, you test how much memory Windows uses that cannot be dumped to the pagefile.

The new tooling makes SA-1 analysis way more aggressive. 64 GB pagefile to compensate my lack of RAM (current DDR5 prices on Brazil are too much for me right now) - but I'm super glad that it's working. Super Metroid SA-1 will happen.

At one point, it was the proposed replacement for the harddrive, to make your entire computer portable.
It worked really well, but if your OS didn't have enough RAM, it needed a pagefile/virtual memory which hurt like hell on an MO disk.

unintuitively, the bigger a file is the more certain you can be that it doesn't contain anything useful. this is why you should delete your pagefile. you will surely not regret deleting your pagefile

unintuitively, the bigger a file is the more certain you can be that it doesn't contain anything useful. this is why you should delete your pagefile. you will surely not regret deleting your pagefile

If you're going to do a "halving the memory until Windows no longer boots" video, PLEASE do not disable the pagefile, otherwise you will be sorely disappointed when Windows doesn't function at 1024 MB of RAM (adjust according to the Windows version)

It's just conspiracy - people who 'feel' like they get the tech. They fill knowledge gaps with magical thinking, and start preaching as these 'tech messiahs'.

the hiberfil.sys is *required* for hibernate to work, without it your pc would need to fully shut down and restart every time you turned it off, this feature is called fast startup now. and the pagefile allows the system to reduce memory pressure without closing applications or fully unloading data

Example: I could run Windows NT 3.51 in 5 MB of RAM once, because of the pagefile, but if you disable it I don't think you can go below 16

when i had 16 gigabytes of ram I would have to set a 65gb pagefile in order for cities skylines to not crash
now i have 64 gigs and the pagefile usage is around 20 gigs
i'm also on Linux now and swap behaves differently than windows pagefile, but the RAM is full anyway

actually sort of proud i managed to download enough cities skylines mods to nearly crash despite 64 gigabytes of ram
