LAHORE: A recently uploaded video by PakWheels has taken social media by storm, showing a nearly 40-year-old Suzuki FX going head-to-head with modern, high-performance turbocharged vehicles—and winning with ease. In the video, the humble-looking Suzuki FX, restored and heavily modified, takes part in four drag races against much newer and more powerful cars. What surprised viewers was not just the fact that the FX held its own, but that it convincingly beat each of its rivals right from the launch, finishing ahead every single time. The first race was against an 11th-generation Honda Civic RS Turbo. The Suzuki FX pulled away cleanly and created a noticeable gap, securing a clear win. Next up was a 10th-generation Civic RS Turbo, which also failed to catch the FX. In the third race, a tuned Civic RS Turbo attempted to challenge the little car—but again, the Suzuki surged ahead and took the win. In a last attempt to dethrone the FX, a Mitsubishi Lancer fitted with a powerful 2000cc Evo engine entered the track. Yet even this performance machine couldn’t keep up, falling behind the lightweight FX in a surprisingly one-sided race. So how did this small, decades-old car manage to outperform vehicles worth up to Rs1 crore? The answer lies under the hood. The owner of the " Scam FX" revealed that the car’s original 800cc engine had been replaced with a 1500cc Honda engine. Combined with the FX’s lightweight frame and favourable power-to-weight ratio, the result was a compact rocket that could launch faster than any of its rivals. Even more astonishing, the owner claimed that his FX is quicker than a 2500cc Toyota Mark X. He added that before these races, he had invited several car enthusiasts to test the FX’s performance, but many declined—perhaps not expecting such a strong contender from the old hatchback.
