#Panthalassan
While space-born pilots may struggle with the fixed planes of reference while on Earth, they find themselves well suited to the ocean. Colonial forces have been seen retrofitting their KMs for deep water applications, and have seen great success hassling the Panthalassan Alliance's surface vessels.

There are seven Vuno class auroral low-orbit stations, run by the Panthalassan Alliance- named for the tallest mountains on each continent. Originally built to repair the atmosphere by dispersing aerosols, they now exist as a stark, militarized reminder of who controls Earth's air and space access.

The #Ticuxi is the modular workhorse of the Panthalassan Alliance's #mech fleet. With a polymerized internal frame and a standardized set of hardpoints, the Ticuxi can be adapted to fill any necessary combat role. The PA has made full use of this flexibility, fielding Ticuxi binary squads all over.

I love making species that are partially based on real ones and also heavily fictional, Talis for instance is a "West Panthalassan Spotted Coyote"

A new paper is out from our group in @commsearth.nature.com that reconstructs the history of oxygen loss in the oceans around the end-Triassic mass extinction (ETME). The ETME is one of of the "Big 5" mass extinction that occurred in the Earth in the past half billion years (1/5). ⚒️🧪

Why yes that idea is open-sourced because why not, have more fun with species and worldbuilding

I heard a rumor that Jake Wright (the guitarist/songwriter behind Viathyn) has a new solo project called Panthalassan and should have an album coming out sometime next year under that name.

Well, there's a new Glyph EP coming in a few days. With a singer who isn't an abuser piece of shit. Who is, hilariously, the abuser's ex-wife.

Relatedly, my favorite album this year so far has been From the Shallows of the Mantle by Panthalassan.

Panthalassan is related because it's from the guitarist of said abuser's old band that broke up in the wake of him being outed.
August 28, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Said singer has nothing to do with Panthalassan, nor Jake's older, also defunct project Viathyn. This album was actually supposed to be a Viathyn album. I don't know why he chose to create Panthalassan instead.

From the Shallows of the Mantle by Panthalassan for tonight's walk. From the guitarist of Ravenous, after Ravenous collapsed* in a similar power-prog style to his older, defunct band Viathyn. A damn fine release for this year and one I'll be listening to for a long time.
