Papyrus papermaking, with multiple videos of the process in the thread 😍:
After several days soaking the papyrus strips, my partner moved on to the next step: laying the strips. He rolled them out, laid one row and then another on top in the opposite direction, pounded it, and clamped it closed to dry. We’ll wait a week to see if it worked. Vids to follow. #DHmakes

Been working on making some homemade recycled paper the past few days. I got into paper making last spring (and apparently it's a spring time activity for me). It's a lot of fun!! More tedious crafts for Topsy. #papermaking

There are numerous working Italian paper mills and papermaking in Italy dates back to the medieval era. Moleskine has multiple options for excellent paper made in the same country as its HQ. They choose not to while still being the highest priced sketchbook in mass distribution.

Junk mail, packaging, misprints, and old files have all gone into these sheets of handmade paper. It's so interesting to see these random bits of paper blend together to create new sheets.

Dangers of marrying the book history guy: I was pulping an old pair of pants in the food processor so I could show basics of papermaking in class tomorrow when the wife came downstairs thinking the commotion was me baking some kind of elaborate treat. “I did not even think this was a possibility.”
