It smells like smoke outside from the #ParkFire and I bet half the people in Chico are having anxiety attacks and flashbacks to the #ParadiseFire. I'm still periodically getting ear-piercing emergency alerts about local mandatory evacuations and evacuation warnings. Fuck it, we're drinking sake.

This means that #ParkFire will almost certainly be among top 3 largest in California history, & could make run at being largest. It has much room to roam amid exceptional confluence of weather, climate, & landscape factors. It will threaten many small NE CA towns in the process.

The #ParkFire continues to advance very rapidly & pose an imminent risk to people in its path. Fire behavior is extreme,& there are extraordinary images emerging of potential pyrovortices. Evacuation warnings (not orders yet) have expanded to Paradise. (Yes, that Paradise.) #CAwx

California's #ParkFire has topped 400,000 acres burned. Just the fourth individual fire or complex to top this threshold in the state since 1932.
FYI: Thirteen (13) of the Top 20 largest fires in the modern era have occurred since 2015.

#ParkFire according to local Reddit, Shingletown now under mandatory evacuation orders. Look at a map for how far north Shingletown is from Chico.

Satellite, radar, and fire camera imagery all suggest #ParkFire is making another major north/northeastward run this evening between Mineral and Mill Creek, with rotating pyroCu plume. Adverse weather conditions will persist for another 2 days or so before fading. #CAwx #CAfire

Strikingly clear indication of potential tornado-strength "pyrovortex" within strongly rotating pyroCb atop #ParkFire right now. This event continues to exhibit almost continuous extreme/exotic fire behavior/phenomena. Significant danger for firefighters/those evacuating. #CAwx
