This is my last day of work. I've been made redundant from a job I did remotely at an age that means I'm now retired, not through choice. No leaving party, no one to make plans with, nothing. As if my life wasn't empty enough. #grief #partnerloss

New winner of the stupid things people say to grievers award: someone asked me yesterday what the advantages were of him being dead! ‘There must be some advantages. When my partner is away…’ #grief #alone #partnerloss

I've now endured 1,000 days without him. And while I've learned to wear a mask around ‘normal’ people now, I still wake up every day with an ache in my heart and disbelief that this is my life now. #alone #grief #partnerloss

Two and a half years ago today the light went out of my life. #grief #solstice #partnerloss #widowhood

We were a good team. He was the sunshine, I was the rain. Together we made rainbows; now everything is just grey. #grief #bereavement #partnerloss

This is my third Christmas without him. I don't send cards any more or decorate the house. Some kindly people still send me greetings and the normalness of their messages are utterly crushing. How on earth do they think I'll have a "fabulous Christmas" or a "brilliant 2026"? #grief #partnerloss

It's one of those days when the silence is utterly deafening. #grief #partnerloss #bereavement

The random assaults are everywhere. Emails inviting me to look back at a year of "family fun", supermarket dine-in offers for two, competitions for holidays that I would have no one to go on with if I won... It's relentless. #grief #widowed #partnerloss

Saw a post that said, "if you haven't lost your partner, look away". No shade to them, but I disagree.

PAY ATTENTION! This could be you at any time, without notice.

On 12 October 2023, I had no idea it would be me the very next day. Now it is.

People keep confusing me with the person I was when he was here. Apparently I'm always busy and out all the time. So who is that person who sits on the sofa alone most nights? #grief #alone #widowed #partnerloss

Drew this a while back and he always thought I made him look too hipster. But I like it anyway 🥰

It happened years ago but today, it’s sharper than ever.

Grief sucks.

Especially partner grief.

Grief feels like wearing punishingly uncomfortable new shoes all the bloody time, while longing to kick them off and wriggle into your favourite comfy slippers. But someone has thrown those slippers away and you must trudge on in the painful shoes for ever. #grief #partnerloss #widowed #bereavement

Having couples to visit is difficult. Their easy chat about shared memories and plans, little in jokes... All so hard to witness once your person is gone. #grief #widowed #partnerloss

Some days in this grief game are unremittingly bleak and this is one of them. I have simply had enough of him not being here. #grief #widowed #partnerloss

So tired of constantly having to be grateful to people for spending time with me, now that the person who actually wanted to be with me isn't here any more. #grief #partnerloss #widowed

Just noticed that in my work day book I wrote that yesterday was 4th March 2023. Because I can't actually accept that time has carried on since I lost him. #grief #partnerloss #widowed

Someone decided to show me an app you can use so your loved ones can monitor where you are to make sure you're safe. There is no one to care where I am any more but she genuinely didn't understand why it was upsetting me. Then she suggested it would mean the police could find my body! #partnerloss
