#PartsCaster
I've got a Charvel Pro Mod SoCal Style 1 on my list, but I've already got a similar Partscaster. A new Explorer style something or other, or maybe a Jaguar?

Hacking together a new partscaster and filed some fret ends for the first time. I would not hire me after what I did, but it's a pretty straight forward process and kinda meditative. If I ever retire from comics, I'm gonna be a luthier!

I will say, fuck FMIC. All my homies hate FMIC. If you want a Squier, get one used, if you want to spend Fender money (especially Vintera/AV money) you can get exactly what you want and not just 80% of what you want with a partscaster.

Do I build a sparkle purple partscaster and start learning chords 🤔

Grateful my buddy Chase Reeves made a video about the Offkilter guitar build I did for him. He articulated some things about the guitar better than I ever could have! youtu.be/Or23Lv_v6w8?is=6GSnj...

Yay collections! I’ve seen your lovely Supro, what else do you favour? There are more scattered round the studio here - Squier VM Thinline Tele and a CV Starcaster, a partscaster Thinline Tele (WIP since 2012!), a ‘70s Jap Jazz Bass copy & a coupla crappy acoustics I saved from going in a skip 😁

me looking at my partscaster:
You’re not ready for the way I’d take you apart, piece by piece, until I own every moan. Still think you can last? 😈

I’m pretty psyched about this new partscaster I put together with my buddy Stan Day. Body from Japan, neck from a Fender Baja and Lollar pickups (firebird in the neck) w/ a 4 way switch. This one is for gigs in posh venues. Tuxedo gigs.

Partscaster/Telecaster. Put a new neck on it this weekend:

Allparts Vee Profile Neck
Kent Armstrong - 6 Shooter PAF Style Humbucker
Kent Armstrong - Power Blades Hum Cancelling Pickup
Gotoh BS-TC2 Bridge
Hosco Vintage Tone Revival Tuners
Squier Affinity body – originally Metallic Blue.

Seemed like they were stumped by it and think it might be a partscaster build which I've thought about too

My partscaster bass is done! It's my first time using sparkle paint.

(mind my dirty couch)

Assembled from a mishmash of parts sitting around. Stuff I also wanted to improve on from my last two tele builds.

Body from local luthier Rich Babik. African Mahogany & Maple. Brazilian Ebony Neck & SS Frets. Hipshot Bridge/Tuners. Lollar Pickups. Ziricote Control Plate.

My new Schecter is really nice but, honestly, I’m mostly playing a partscaster J bass that I made out of a Warmoth body and a [higher end] Squier neck these days.

he ended up selling his because its "travel guitar" job got taken once he figured out how to make a partscaster fit in a suitcase without needing tools or a re-setup
August 23, 2026 at 8:04 PM
Kudos to the seller for not trying to pass it off as a Fender Custom Shop model. You have to have kind of a sick Fender fetish to put a partscaster together and add that neck plate, fender logo and fake (?) serial number. Partscasters are cool in and of themselves! Why go to all that effort?

Partscasters are a crapshoot, but for $375 it's a fairly low-stakes crapshoot, especially since whoever you hired to put a Bigsby onto it (which would still have your total outlay under $1k) would do a full setup as part of that process...

It's finally done! I've built my first ever partscaster guitar; say hello to Raven the 27" baritone telecaster!

I'd still like to get a matching strap, a custom waterslide headstock decal and get the neck plate engraved, but she's fully playable!
August 21, 2026 at 7:11 AM
just restrung and roughly intonated my tele for 9-42s cause I'm incredibly rusty and I forgot how fucking good it feels to play fast on light strings holy fuck. I love 1.5 note bends so much

Partscaster with a bridge rail humbucker going through a very old Zoom multifx processor for the delays and reverb into the effects loop, and a tubscreamer clone going into the front of a slightly cranked amp for dirt, volume knob to taste.

Setting up is a fucking chore, but worth it, I guess?

If I ever find a used Pacifica in that 80s oak kitchen cabinet finish for a decent price, that's definitely gonna be it, though I'll probably just slap a partscaster together before that happens (I did just pick up a neck at the parts shop. Slight twist, but nothing that can't be dealt with via...

Got Dexter - my very unloved partscaster guitar - back from a setup today.

Turns out it really suits my Tweed Deluxe amp.

Kinda kicking myself for having never tried it with that amp before 🤦‍♂️

Offset P-90 Build — Dan Provost
Earlier this year I built my first “partscaster,” a Strat with P-90s using parts from Warmoth. Of course, I still had the itch to do more, so I decided to try my hand at creating my own guitar body f...

I was wondering if you had built your own from parts purchasing.

In guitar parlance, a partscaster, if you will.
