I should also mention here a way of describing someone with an overinflated sense of their own importance that I heard in Milanese dialect, which is el parün de la melünera. It means “the CEO of the watermelon stand.”
A similar Bengali phrase is বাঁশবনে শিয়াল রাজা. It means “fox king of the bamboo grove.”
