Last summer I visited the fields of Passendaele. It's crazy how it looks like the shire from LOTR right now. Real beautiful countryside. And back then young men who died for nothing

Gelukkig had ik maandag samen met een vriend nog een leuke uitstap naar Passendaele 1917 Museum in #Zonneke, waar we meteen ook de kerk en pastorie, beiden ontworpen door Huib Hoste, bezichtigden.

De beste WO1-musea die ik bezocht (in willekeurige volgorde):
- Passendaele blijft een van mijn favorieten
- Legermuseum in Brussel blijft uitblinken qua collectie (hoe die gebruikt w is een ander paar mouwen
- Vimy is een absolute (gratis) aanrader. Probeer zeker mee te gaan met korte rondleiding

Weet iemand een leuk adresje in de buurt van Passendaele waar je op maandagmiddag (10/11) niet duur en toch lekker kan eten? #dtv

I strongly suggest that anybody who has not done so, visit the grave sites and memorials in Flanders. Ypres, of course, but also Passendaele, Niewpoort, etc. Ploegsteert is especially poignant.

Nobody with empathy can support war. Chickenhawks like Trump are beneath contempt.

Spreadable cheeses: Kiri or Cottage cheese
Cheese for bread: passendaele or young Gouda
For dishes: gruyère/emmentaler mix. Just a decent gratin mix of grated cheeses. And mozzarella/burrata, depending on the sauce

Semi-hard cheeses: passendaele
Semi-soft cheeses: Saint-Paulin
Soft cheeses: Brie de Meaux (or Camembert when you’re not, you know, in Meaux)
Hard cheeses: Feta? Idk if that classifies as hard tbh

When in Belgium 🇧🇪 … I just can‘t resist!! (No chocolates, but tarte a la creme de chocolat this time)

bevind je je soms op de A19 (naar ieper) want waar ik woon (rand westhoek) zijn er veel aangename wandelingen te doen.
bv kasteelpark zonnebeke, tynecot passendaele, ... en is maar 5tal minuten van de afrit.
