So not a similar situation to yours, which is why I reached for Passover instead. I now make Passover and order much of the meat and sides, plus I go to friends for some of it. Zero regret.

Please order the food. When my late mother finally let herself order some prepared food for Passover, it made everything so much easier, though it did take a year or two for her to forgive herself. So you can just skip that, order the food, and forgive yourself right now.

Many protestants' in this country are extremely philosemitic. The church will arrange a trip to Israel once a year. They will have a Passover "Seders". Rams horns for no reason. There's actually a whole Christian denomination that considers themselves the Real Jews TM and yes it involves an outfit.

I've been _really_ good about avoiding daily consumption of any alcohol, being pretty much free of it for almost a full year, except on special occasions like birthdays or Passover... and events like tonight.
