Indeed. However, Paterculus published his Historiae Romanae before Tiberius died, drawing on personal observations, while Suetonius published his De Vitis Caesarum, drawing on imperial documents and Acta Senatus, some eight decades after Tiberius — enough time for alternative facts to take hold.
