U.99 fired three torpedoes at the Patroclus, then surfaced and opened fire with her deck gun. The Patroclus remained stable and afloat and returned fire with accuracy, forcing U.99 to submerge. The torpedo attack was then resumed and Patroclus was hit by three more torpedoes before she finally sank.

actually Achilles is like "let us forget our RAGE" which is deeply ironic bc he only finally came out of his tent to fight again due to rage, it's just that his rage is now directed at Hector for killing Patroclus instead of at Agamemnon for taking Briseis

U-99 was forced to take evasive action, but then fired two more torpedoes. The first did not explode but the second did and the Laurentic slowly sank by the stern. HMS Patroclus had meanwhile arrived and was rescuing men from the Casanare when U.99 attacked her with torpedoes just after midnight.
