A quick reminder of tonight's canvassing in Portobello/Craigmillar meeting 6pm in Cairntows Park.

Easily reached from across the city, just hop on the 2, 12, 14 or 30 bus, or cycle from town. Perfect for escaping the fringe crowds.

Every time Australia is here they seem to end up training in a car park, sure the ground staff before have kept them off Peffermill pitches due to weather #KeepOffTheGrass #rugby

The remainder of my free food haul.
Fair play to whoever came up with this idea.
Crowds at BUCS games at East Peffermill can sometimes be in single figures, but well over 100 here today.

@edinburghcouncil.bsky.social what can be done about Peffermill Industrial Estate to make it safer for cyclists. I’m a regular user to and from RIE and frequent reporter of potholes but my son has been commuting for just 2 months and has already had to replace front wheel due to pothole damage.

Artisan Roast was one of the pioneers of specialty coffee in Edinburgh. Opening in 2007, they now have four shops across the city (plus a kiosk on Little King Street), and a well respected roastery in Peffermill. Their first café, on Broughton Street, remains popular to this day. Deservedly so. Rising uniformity One thing that is distinct about this café is its aesthetic, which is markedly different from most specialty coffee places in the city.

Well, the area of Edinburgh where the factory is is called Peffermill, which I assume is Scottish for pepper mill.

Baseball event hailed – despite injury blow
A leg break sustained by Thilina Palethane sliding for second base overshadowed the inaugural two day baseball festival hosted by Edinburgh Rays at Morgan Playing Fields, Peffermill. Because that particular encounter had to be suspended - Thilina has now undergone surgery - it was reckoned the decision cost Rays a place in the final where Capital rivals Edinburgh Knights stepped up to defeat Tayport Breakers. Winner of the Home Run Derby for big hitting was Rose Anderson who is pictured receiving her award from organiser Luke Rajczuk. Rays upcoming fixtures - August 2 - Edinburgh Angels (Peffermill); August 9 - Glasgow (Peffermill); August 16 - Tayport Breakers (away); August 23 - Edinburgh Cannons (Warriston).

It was 2.30pm at Peffermill Playing Fields, Edinburgh. The thermometer hovered around zero under a lead-grey sky, but the wind chill made it feel a lot colder. Fingers froze. A day to be inside, with the central heating on, watching a movie or sport on the small screen. Yes, it is late January, in the middle of a Scottish winter, but was decidedly chilly.

Scotland win against France at Peffermill
Scotland’s senior women’s hockey team edged France in a training game at Edinburgh’s Peffermill Playing Fields in front of an encouraging crowd. The 2-1 victory was hard-fought and the game is a prelude to a Test double-header at the same venue on Saturday (11.30) and Sunday (11.15) against the same side. The Scots edged ahead in a scrappy game in the first half, which they largely dominated, from a penalty corner converted by Amy Costello, but France levelled seconds from half-time, a real blow.
