Beautiful home this. Also a very enjoyable bit of The Modern House’s “hide the television” approach to listings:
For Sale: Hall Lane, Pelsall, West Midlands
Built around 1970, this spacious five-bedroom house near the centre of Pelsall remains true to its mid-century origins.

I have never read a novel set in the Black Country before but found this one in a review. Set around the Pelsall & Brownhills collieries & canals in the 1870’s. It uses the Black Country dialect in conversations which you pick up after a while. A good read and beautifully evocative writing.

Walsall as a relief nurse. There she devoted her life to the poor, nursing victims of industrial accidents and through the smallpox epidemic of 1875. Deeply respected by railway workers, she was given a pony and carriage to help her reach patients. She died on Christmas Eve 1877 of breast cancer.
