#PenaltyRates
The Libs like to argue that removing or reducing #PenaltyRates will increase employment. They reduced it in their last term, and not a single new job was created. Business owners however made more money, their workers less.

That should tell you who Dutton truly represents.

Even if you accept that penalty rates are outdated because society has changed (and I don't, by the way).

Shift workers are now known to have much poorer health outcomes. Surely, at the very least, they should be compensated for the damage this form of labour does to the body? #auspol #penaltyrates

After all, this is the party that opposes #PenaltyRates and minimum wage increases.
Of course they wouldn't pay full-time roles that need, in their words, "demonstrable career experience" at the CxO level.

Right now, big business lobby groups are making applications to the Fair Work Commission to cut workers penalty rates. Labor will change the law to protect penalty rates into the future #penaltyrates #auspol #politas @AustralianLabor @SDAunion

No matter what state you're in, if you're working over Easter, make sure you're getting your full rate of pay, including penalty rates 👏

And if you're not working, be sure to have a well-deserved rest and enjoy the break.

On todays podcast OLD EVERALD AND YOUNG JAMES TALK POLITICS I begin debate on #penaltyrates. There is now no such thing as a weekend in Australia nor normal working hours. People work at whatever time is convenient to them. We need significant rise in #minimumwage rather than penalty rates.

'The Australia Institute's Centre for Future Work has calculated that more than half a million workers in the retail and hospitality industries stand to lose a total of $630Mill this financial year as a result of a reduction in #penaltyrates'

The current enterprise 'agreement was signed in 2015 and removes #penaltyrates for weekends, public holidays and work performed *after* 9pm on weekdays. It restricts overtime payments and provides little room for annual pay rises.'

Happy to pay the 15% surcharge at restaurants and cafes.

Those young staff make a pittance so hopefully their bosses do the right thing.

Not like some, who don’t pass on the tips to workers when paying by app.

If you can bring cash with you. Reward the wait staff.
