For local trips we use an e-bike. Electricity cost is pennies. Roughly half a pence per mile. A petrol family SUV costs 15–20p a mile in fuel alone. Swap even a couple of thousand local miles a year onto the e-bike and you save another £800 in fuel, plus all the hassle.
