Lauren Papke is a student in the master’s program in Agricultural Education. She’s always wanted to be an agricultural educator, and knew Oregon State was the place for her.

In the future, I hope to be a high school ag teacher. It is my passion to be in the classroom educating the next generation of agriculturists."

Our Transfer Student Spotlight today is ⭐ Evelin Herrera ⭐ Evelin is a student in our online Elementary Education program, all while working for the Hood River School District!

Photo of Evelin Text: Evelin Herrera (she/her) Elementary Education Text: I have always loved education, and my dream has always been to become a teacher. I love children and learn so much from them like forgiving others, enjoying life more and just being who you are. Online school has allowed me to learn from a distance, make connections with a diverse community of people, and still have a life that I can be happy and excited about. This is my third year working at the Hood River School District and the staff has been more than supportive, working alongside OSU so I can further my education. I have also met great people at OSU like Shoshanna Holman and Melissa Potter who have encouraged me to keep moving forward. I also want to thank Meagan Schorr with TEACH Columbia Gorge GYO who has been an enormous help in finding the financial resources for school.

Today, we're spotlighting our amazing Ment2Teach mentor Leo! Leo is an elementary education major in his student teaching year. Swipe to read about his experience with Ment2Teach! 📚

#OSUCoEd #PeopleofCoEd #Ment2Teach
Photo of Leo with text: "Ment2Teach Spotlight - Leo de Carvalho Mussap - Elementary Education Major, Ment2Teach Mentor" “I joined Ment2Teach initially because we had so many mentees! I had worked in similar programs before, and I was so excited to share the information and love for OSU that I grew to have over my time here.” “Ment2Teach, as a mentor, was an amazing way to connect with others and feel like I am passing down knowledge. As future educators, I think we all want to help the next generations be more prepared, and Ment2Teach helped me do that!” “I think the highlight of my year with Ment2teach was the picnic with KDP. The weather was just perfect for everyone to gather outside and chat. The tote bag painting was very fun and practical, but I also found that doing art together was a great way to get to know each other even more! All of the events with M2T feel very carefully crafted to bring people together.” “College can be really isolating at first. Ment2Teach really helps build strong and lasting connections. These connections are so, so important as you advance your educational and professional career, but most of all, it's great to make friends that are passionate about the same things you are! But if none of that has sold you - all the events have free food and fun activities!! :)”
