#Perl6
if spec-driven development worked, perl6 would have hundreds of vibecoded implementations by now

perl6?

Because of the quantum operator support, raku both is and is not perl6 at all times

Python has an easier path to true meta-programming than Java #fightme
I wish Audrey Tang had more success with #Perl6 but Pyrhon won with speed, libraries and less technical debt.

Am I wrong to be getting the same feelings about this as I did for Perl6/Rakudo?

It's such a shame because Rakudo/Perl6 looks so cool and expressive.

I've glued together so many disparate systems with Perl. Big LDAP directories with hundreds of thousands of users dumping data into new places, migrating users, etc etc. It's been a great toolkit for me.

Sweet Christ on a crutch, the wikipedia page for Perl6 reads like PKD technochristian fan fiction.

Had way too much fun reading the documentation for perl6 tbh
Lone Perl enthusiast at bluesky: "so has anyone heard of Rakudo...?"

the thing about trying to find raku/perl6 content is that theres barely any. but look at this camelia in what seems to be a round globe. a bug in a ball.

П'яту гілку тягнуть і до нині. perl6 так і не вийшов, багато років розробки і ці напрацювання стали мовою програмування Raku)

maybe writing a new shell is my way of convincing myself it was good for me to read all those perl6 docs and discussions back in the day. still kinda tempted to drop some quarters into a perl6 runtime someday but I am too deep into kaish for now. it can do too many things other shells can't

Wait, Perl6 is still under active development? Wow. Why?

But, obviously, some teams do better than others!

Also it’s a crime that Perl6 failed

9999999999999999.0 - 9999999999999998.0 の計算はほとんどのプログラミング言語で正しく処理できない。仕方ないね。Perl6はなぜか正しく処理できてるぞ

Less seriously, convert your entire codebase to Perl6/rakudo and take advantage of annoying your colleagues with Unicode variable names

The first release of Perl was in Dec 1987 and the first release of Python was in Feb 1991, ie only ~3 years later. Weird how Perl was able to capture the mindshare initially and then lose it almost completely around the time of Perl6.

In raku/perl6 the devs took regexes even forther and built an entire grammar parsing subsystem. So much care went into making the language easy to read, write, and extend.

And with a rather political purpose! One of the core devs is Audrey Tang, a hacker worth reading about.
