I think it’s a permissionless system

Permissionless distributed energy.

Who better to champion the cause of “permissionless innovation” in the energy space in these times?

Crypto 2015: non-government decentralized permissionless money

Crypto now: money you can use to bribe the government

The power of open and permissionless APIs strikes again!
lol nice, @deck.blue (a third party app) implemented the lists feature before us (backend now supports curated lists)
1.9.0 is up and with it are curated lists!

You can add a new List column by pressing A or clicking the + button in the bottom left corner.

If you don't have any lists, you can create one in the same menu! From there, you can add profiles from your followed ones, or just search anyone!

they reference "permissionless innovation" and "decentralized technology," so seems like it's a crypto scam!

how apropos
Uh, really excited for the re-launch of everyone's favorite e-discovery company (bewildered)

permissionless
you "can just do things" but this elides that you actually _must_ just do things

The dream of URLs—open, permissionless sharing—is fading. I can't paste URLs into my AIs or send them to my friends and be sure that they'll see what I see. But you know what does work? Screenshots! Screenshots are the successor to URLs. Open, permissionless sharing.

"permissionless tech" means crimes, right?

A NEW PERMISSIONLESS POST IS HERE
auth: it's just a list!

authorization tends to bring out Strong Opinions ™️ so we decided to try to keep it as simple as possible in the protocol & let the applications build higher-level abstractions

give it a read & let me know your thoughts!
Permissioned Data Diary 6: Boring Auth
In which we resist the temptation to invent a clever authorization model & pick the boring one instead.

The moment you post something to the AT Protocol you are consenting to your content being distributed publicly across an open permissionless network.

permissionless innovation includes people doing things you won’t like or judge as slop

Still seeking:

- Decentralized direct-messaging (DM) service
- Works with atproto identities
- E2EE
- Self-hostable / FOSS
- Permissionless
- Frontend-agnostic / plug-n-play
- No blockchain

Group messaging would be a bonus.
We'd be your github sponsor + public champion.
Bluesky DMs are a centralized service that they run and haven't open sourced. Germ DMs are similarly centralized.

If there's ever a DM service that we can self-host and would be interoperable with (work with) other atproto apps or non-Blacksky accounts, we'll swap out Bluesky's.

the only thing i got from reading this is just how cooked the brains of some engineers are that they seriously believe giving multiple agents full, unfettered, permissionless access to their code and to ship it - at a rate the person cannot realistically review themselves - is a good thing

Ubiquitous? Permissionless? Interoperable? Or do you mean something else?

"The whole 'crypto is permissionless and censorship-resistant' thing is a bunch of bullshit," said one sex worker interviewed by Wired.

Permissionless Innovation!

(It might not be horrible every time!)

Polymarket is restricting VPN access and mandating identity verification for users. This shift away from permissionless trading s regulatory bans of the betting platform in over 30 countries.

as bluesky nears 10M users, some of our pds hosts have started to surpass 500k users.

we run the same open source pds software that we distribute, not a fork! no heavy machinery—give it some disk and let it run.

cheap, permissionless hosting is what makes this network open. happy upcoming 10M! 🎉

"Permissionless tech" doesn't sound ominous at all😱

New blog + atproto experiment 🧪

I recently hooked up *my bathroom* to the AT Protocol (the thing powering Bluesky) & created what I'm calling Personal Lexicons...

Also, I committed heavily to this bit, so you might want to check out the end of the blog (hint: it's my 1st AppView + public lexicon)
Creating a decentralized bathroom (powered by the AT Protocol)
As many of you know by now, I am a Lexicon enjoyer. So much so that this week I created the world's first bathroom that is connected to the AT Protocol. Yes, you read that correctly...

Every breakthrough begins with someone who acted without waiting.

Ignaz Semmelweis saved lives without approval.
Open-source software rewrote the rules without permission.

Permissionless is about these stories—and the mindset behind them.

It is extremely irresponsible and deeply offensive to equate accessing *public data* to sexual assault and violation of bodily consent. Genuinely insane and unhinged that a man is sending me a video about sexual consent in a conversation about permissionless public data networks.
