The convention scene definitely shifted to be more afraid of being "cringe" but we had higher numbers of crazy weirdos who were openly perverts/racists/etc. Oh and heaven forbid if you were a lesbian in like 2009

Just like you’re going to have a few racists in each PD, a few perverts in each HR Dept, etc., you’re going to have a few assholes in every large protest. 1A is not conditioned on sainthood and collective punishment is not the fallback.
A few words about “peaceful protests.”
1. At least 5% of people are uncontrollable assholes and will behave badly in any situation, let alone a high-tension one. So a large protest without ANYONE throwing shit, yelling slurs or for violence, etc. is likely not achievable.
