Pace performed well against team leader Henri Pescarolo but left Williams at the end of the year to join Surtees.

Despite excellent performances, poor reliability hampered his progress, and he quit in mid-1974.

#HappyBirthday Henri Pescarolo, 84. A 4-time Le Mans winner, he raced 57 #F1 GPs, albeit never with the stellar success that he achieved in sports cars. Here he is (in car) with his team-mate & fellow Le Mans legend Derek Bell in Frank Williams’ #F2 Marches at Nürburgring in ’71.

In 1971, he achieved fourth place at Silverstone, driving for Frank Williams’ March. Pescarolo eventually stepped away from Formula One, making sporadic returns, but by the end of 1976, he focused entirely on sports car racing.

Closed top Courage C60 goes kinda hard though. A closed top Pescarolo C60 would have won Le Mans fr.

A very happy birthday to Le Mans legend Henri Pescarolo.

In the days before Patrick Head, Frank Williams ran a very different team from the standard-setter we know now, as Pescarolo found out to his cost in 1972. Adam Cooper reports: go.motorsportmagazine.com/4m...

So I got thinking today about racing drivers who have been in their sports a while.

Fernando Alonso has competed in over 400 Grands Prix. However, Richard Petty competed in over 1000 NASCAR races. Mario Andretti has over 400 Indycar races. Henri Pescarolo started 33 24 Hours of Le Mans.

#HappyBirthday Franck Lagorce, 57. A winner in #F3, #F3000 & #RenaultSportSpider, he drove only 2 #F1 GPs, for Ligier, in ’94. That year he entered Le Mans for the first of 10 times, in a Courage C32LM (pic), with Henri Pescarolo & Alain Ferté. More recently he’s done ice racing.
