Beach Boys cancel 'Pet Sounds 60' tour dates following health concerns for Mike Love
The Beach Boys have abruptly cancelled their 'Pet Sounds 60' tour dates, which were scheduled to commence on September 24, 2026. The band had previously rescheduled their July dates to September to allow remaining founding member Mike Love to 'recharge' after health concerns. The cancellation affects shows in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and two in South Carolina, with venues citing 'circumstances beyond [our] control' as the reason. The band is set to recommence their tour on October 9 at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois. This cancellation follows a pattern of health-related issues for Mike Love, the only remaining original member of the band, after the recent death of Brian Wilson in June 2025. A review following a May 30 concert noted Love's voice was 'reduced to a whisper, all warbled, strange, and barely there,' prompting the band to cancel several dates earlier this year due to Love's unspecified illness. The Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' album, released in 1966, is considered a seminal work in pop music history, and the tour was intended to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The band has also recently released their lost experimental album 'Adult/Child' after nearly 50 years. The cancellation has raised concerns about Love's health, with the band's management yet to provide a detailed explanation for the latest abrupt decision. The Beach Boys' legacy, particularly through Brian Wilson's contributions, has been celebrated as 'culture-defining' and representative of pop music's 'awakening,' with Wilson's death marking the end of an era for the iconic group.
