Lmao cutting the Lutherans out is, uh, rather phalangist
What Elon is doing is straight up illegal. He has no authority to go through line by line and shut off funding to organizations he dislikes. He's intentionally trying to destroy civil society.

🧵Today we remember the 44th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila Massacres. Between 16–18 September 1982, Israeli forces encircled Beirut’s Sabra neighborhood and Shatila refugee camp, established observation posts overlooking the area, and facilitated the entry of Lebanese Phalangist forces.

Although the Phalangist forces carried out the killings, Israel’s role in surrounding the camps and enabling the operation became the subject of international and Israeli investigations. 🧵

Adding the "socialist" line for context. This is almost verbatim from the National Socialists and Phalangist playbook in Germany and Spain.

After Speaker Johnson's threat to tar and feather Governor Newsom, there's a whole lot of incitement of violence going on, by the Trump Regime

Also, could we please, please have an episode without finger trauma? That's literally three episodes in a row. Who on the SNW production team hates fingers. Who is the phalangist.

One of Lebanon’s big problems is that Israel & The West have selected Maronite Christians as their partners of choice with other communities kept in check. And of course power elites entrenched, corrupt. President *has* to be Christian. After the Phalangist massacres by Christians too.

It was literally ordered by the IDF. Yes, their phalangist allies did the killing. Yes, the IDF blocked the exits and fired illumination flares so the killing could continue overnight.

Things began falling apart with the assassination in Sept 1982 of Israel’s ally Bachir Gemayel, the Cmdr of Lebanese forces elected Pres of Lebanon. That prompted a massacre of Palestinians by Phalangist militia at the Sabra and Shatila camp. With the PLO removed, S Lebanon descended into chaos. 4/

if you've seen "Waltz with Bashir" or "Lebanon", or know the history of that war, you'll know it explains a ton that she's a child of a Phalangist

the Christian faction of the Lebanese civil war not only started the war, but committed its worst atrocities.

#OTD On Sept. 16–18, 1982, right-wing Lebanese Christian Phalangist militias killed 1,500–3,000 people, mostly Palestinian refugees, in Beirut’s Sabra and Shatila camps during the Lebanese Civil War, as Israeli forces controlled the area and allowed the militias to enter

Lebanon has historically had an extremely weak official military because nobody could trust one sect or the other not to overwhelm the other. Before Hezbollah became the most powerful militia, it was the Maronite Phalangist ones, which were hated by a majority of the population.
