#PhantomF4
So true. Travelled to Canberra some years ago and was stunned by Blue Poles, really took my breath away. And of course we could have had the PhantomF4 instead of the F111 at a fraction of the cost. Japan, which has China as a neighbour, retired it's F4s in 2019, yes a service life of 50 years!
The other great joy I’m getting from Mcillroy’s book on Blue Poles and the outrageous $1.4 million paid for a work of art that wouldn’t cover half a wing of an F111 is that all the critics and political opportunists of the time have disappeared without trace into political oblivion.
