Just one more.

#Phototip

Your eye goes to brightest or white first.

Next: contrast.

Get it?

#phototip. Saturation. Most of us abuse it. It’s ok. Just grow out of it sooner rather than later 😂. But when you learn the “just right” amount, you (and your fans) will be much happier. We all do it. It’s ok.

This is the way it was that day. Crazy huh? Light matters.

#phototip. It’s that time of year again. The Aspens and Birch trees are rockin. Be sure to fix your white balance- those trunks need to be white!

Question. Remember when I used to do #phototip (s)? Are you interested? Let me know. I’m on summer vacation and can do it🎉🙌

#phototip shooting directly at the sun is difficult. It’s usually best to shoot when it’s behind you. Use a flash/speedlight to create the sun star or really work your settings. Auto (phone/camera) will (most times) not give you this result.

#phototip. “Keep it simple” is a composition rule that helps us learn how to key into our subject when taking in a huge thing like nature. Practice this for clearer subject matter for your viewers.

Lesson 1 #phototip. An easy thing to improve upon, no matter if you use a phone or camera; straighten your horizon. It makes you look like you care about your viewer. It’s easier for us to digest. #adventurephoto #teamcanon #canonusa

#phototip A favorite spot. I need to back and redo. Can you spot the problem(s)?

Today’s #phototip comes with an assignment. It’s easy. We are straightening our horizons which is fantastic! But where are we putting it? Center? Try putting it far up or far below. This is the beginnings of composition. See how it’s above/below center. You try! Phones are fine! Tag #Pho1

#phototip when taking a landscape shot, make sure you communicate what your subject is. “Keep it simple” is a rule we use to help us stay focused.

#phototip Framing. Use framing to make your subject more interesting. Thumb Butte is interesting but when framed, it’s more interesting. Use trees, bushes and whatever is in front of you to fully or partially frame your scene.

The Rule of Odds in landscape framing: grouping background elements in sets of three creates balance while keeping the eye moving past a single anchor subject. #phototip

#phototip. What do we see first in photos? 1) Brightest
2) Contrast 3) faces ( if people/animals are present). Use this as a guide for your compositions. 💪🏼

It has been a minute since I’ve done a photo shoot where I knew I’d need BIG prints.

I did not follow my #1 rule of using a tripod #phototip. Even in adequate light, a heavy lens is almost impossible to hold till. Tip 2, focus on the inside corner of the eye. #avoidtheblur

@sim688.bsky.social asked me for #photography tips. Here’s #PhotoTip #2

Find your line. For landscapes it’s easy to find the and hold horizontal line, but what about architecture? The vertical or horizontal line you use makes the shot.

These 2 use different buildings for the vertical line.

Practice a trick called Fill the Frame. Literally move closer.

Now you do it and show me!!! Do this with nature as well🎉

I promised you a grid. Here it is. #phototip. Rule of thirds. Place your subject in one of the circles instead of the center. This makes it more interesting. Make sense?

#phototip this is a big 3fer An example of framing, straighten your horizon and move closer. Can’t wait to see yours! Show me what you’ve done! The first is ok but hard on the eyes. Most will prefer the second because it’s straight, framed and easier to see. Make sense? Less is more. #teamcanon
