There was a little girl who had a little curl— Oops, this one has two. #daguerreotype of a very somber 19thcentury person. #vintagephotography #PhotographyHistory #clothinghistory #toddlerTuesday

The camera helped move photography out of the specialist's darkroom and into everyday life. The snapshots that would eventually become a normal part of family and social life began with innovations like these.

Another image from my old glass plates.

This chap is posing somewhat uncomfortably. I believe he’s wearing the clothes of a cleric, and the hat looks like it would be a dashing addition to the ensemble!

Another image from my old glass plates.

This is another one that just makes me smile! A woman with her banjo (at least, I think it’s a banjo).

Sadly, I currently know little about the people who took these images.

Another image from my old glass plates.

The woman featured appears to be a housemaid, and has an incredibly expressive face, though the expression doesn’t give me very positive vibes.

But I do love the hands thrust determinedly in her pockets!

Another image from my old glass plates.

I’ve chosen this one purely for the wonderful selection of boaters, bonnets, and other titfers! Another group in the same setting implies this is at a cricket match.
