Our paper is out. We describe pigment cells and scales in a Jurassic plesiosaur. Small scales are found at the limbs which enforced them. Body and tail are scale-less. Many thanks to lead-author Miguel Marx & the team.

A rare 6-foot bright orange nurse shark with white eyes was discovered and released off the coast of Costa Rica in August 2025, first documented sighting. The unique color is caused by a combination of two rare genetic conditions: xanthism (excessive yellow pigmentation) and partial albinism.

An interesting characteristic of this fenestrated haworthia I noticed over the summer is that if it is exposed to bright sunshine for a few weeks, the pigmentation of its leaves turns from cool green to bright red. 🌱🪴🌵
