Dank #Trump habe ich mein proprietäres Cloud-Backup jetzt von einem US-Dienst zu #Hetzner mit PikaBackup (Borg-Backup) umgezogen.
Und es ist so viel schneller und besser! Mein täglicher Snapshot von 3,6TB(!) Daten dauert nur 7 Minuten! Über DSL 100!

Das erste Backup hat tatsächlich zwei Wochen gedauert. Man kann es aber immer unterbrechen und neu starten, dann hat man anfangs halt unvollständige Snapshots.
Die lokalen Daten sind übrigens eher 5TB, ca. 5 Mio Dateien, werden aber komprimiert.
Borg (PikaBackup als GUI) ist wirklich genial!

No es nada jo, tú prueba y si te convence palante. Lo bueno de Linux es eso también, si una no te convence te vas a otra que mientras hagas backup de tu carpeta de usuario casi todo seguirá igual (y te recomiendo hacerlo por si acaso, pero aquí y en Windows). Yo uso PikaBackup por ejemplo.

Sinon hier j'ai encore remplacé un Mint par un Bazzite et grâce à PikaBackup pour faire une sauvegarde de ~/ c'est allé tout seul,

il y avait juste à copier sélectivement les profils de navigateur et les fichiers perso depuis le backup monté vers le nouveau home c'est vraiment ça qui a pris le plus de temps.
Et quel rafraîchissement le passage de MATE à KDE 👌

I've set it up for my mum. Now, I'd really like to be able to monitor that backups are humming along nicely, and be warned if they failed. Anyone managed that?

@OrionKidder this time I backed up everything to a network storage using #PikaBackup - reinstalled the system - logged in - installed pika again and copied everything from the backup into the user folder again - reboot.
now everything is back.

now everything is back.
