It's #FlyDay.

She was sitting in the shade of the honeysuckle.

So was I.

For a little while, we simply kept company with life.

A pine sawyer beetle, Monochamus galloprovincialis, (a type of longhorn beetle) rests on a honeysuckle leaf in soft shade. The veins in the green leaf make it look like stained glass. The beetle’s long antennae extend outward into a scorching summer afternoon. Her mottled black body blends with the textures of the plant. The photograph captures a quiet moment of sharing space with a small wild neighbor.
