She also sang the Pinsuti setting in that concert.

I found this musical setting of Dante's sonnet "Tanto gentile e tanto onesta pare" by the Italian composer Ciro Pinsuti, who studied with Rossini and lived most of his life in London. I must admit it's the first time I've heard of him.

As we look forward to Rosa Feola's Donizetti Songs Volume 7 release next month, we're indulging today in memories from 2024 when she performed for us @wigmore-hall.org.uk with Carlo Rizzi.

Donizetti was, of course, on the programme - alongside Ponchielli, Pinsuti and Respighi, heard here 🎶

📆November 8, 1873 Ciro Pinsuti's opera "Il mercante di Venezia", based on William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" is first performed, at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Italy
