The generous geniuses building StuffPro and PitchPro at @baseballprospectus.com have those grades even for pitchers at Triple A. Check out Seth's article to see where Morris's slider and cutter each rank in PitchPro; you're gonna want to file it away.

I've yet to find a repeatable skill in catchers getting excess value from a pitch beyond what you'd expect given PitchPro/pitcher/batter, but I have found PitchPro impact to be repeatable. If interested here's full leaderboard, w/ William Contreras on top. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

I think Trop's high whiff rate park factor is due to the quality of pitches thrown there. Controlling for pitch quality and batter's faced shows that it actually has a relatively low park factor for whiffs per swing.

PitchPro thought the 104 fastball on the corner was Mason Miller's 7th best fastball thrown yesterday, I bring no pleasure in reporting this

Mick Abel I'm definitely taking the under on all of his projections. All of our underlying pitch metrics (StuffPro, PitchPro, Arsenal Metrics) love him. The trajectories look beautiful together

@srbrown70.bsky.social's essay is ordered before any other in the book, and starts things off strong with a detailed introduction to StuffPro and PitchPro, BP's pitch-modeling metrics, and how those have been included to improve both our analysis and PECOTA.

thoroughly enjoyed @matrueblood.bsky.social on the Manaea signing (plus Canning and Buehler). PitchPro never really surfaced Manaea's mid-season adjustment, and Matt figured out why (and why it won't and shouldn't bother the Mets):

And Griffin Canning is the prototypical reclamation project.

Povich's sweeper moves to 2nd on the list when factoring in location as well (PitchPro). Bradish still king.

Theoretically one could have a beta version of PitchPro that included Arsenal Metrics, and if one did have that it could potentially look like this on a percentile scale for him

Been playing w/ a PitchPro update that would let us decompose the value of a pitcher’s locations and Arsenal Metrics and also provide an estimate of the model’s uncertainty. The update did not solve the riddle of Bryce Elder.

LOB% is obviously part of his job, but in other years you'd see guys bite on the breaking balls in deep counts, and that's not going to happen if batters don't believe the sinker is coming in the right spot, much less the breakers themselves

Fwiw PitchPro concurs, I just can't get the sort right

On Judge's HR against Varland, PitchPro estimated an expected wOBACON of just 0.139 if put in play. That's the second lowest E[wOBACON] for any home run in 2025.

Note that Bleday's homer off Matsui came off the bat at just 94.8 mph and snuck over the wall.

Looking for a solution to a decades-old problem for the Rockies, @euqubud.baseballprospectus.com applies PitchPro to Coors Field and discovers that some long-accepted truths about pitching at altitude aren't as clear-cut as we thought. Mario Delgado Genzor's comments are as clear-cut as Coors isn't.

Ive tried this, I'll have to find the thread, but what I found basically was: C have a noticeable effect on the quality of pitches thrown as measured by StuffPro or PitchPro, this effect is mainly driven by some catchers calling for breaking balls more often, and the effect is very sticky. However,
