I was surprised to learn that a 2004 game offered a software renderer at all, but then was even more surprised to find out that it was a *licensed* software renderer called "Pixomatic" by none other than RAD Game Tools, co-created by Michael Abrash, and launched in 2003! 😯
Unreal is great but most impressive software renderer on a shipped game is probably the one on UT2004.

By default, Pixomatic outputs at half res, but after reading the documentation (boo, hiss) it's trivial to turn that off in the ini, at which point my test shows it running around 16-24 fps.
This is honestly about 5 times faster than I was expecting.

Khao Moo Dang for Thai is right there and Paadee a little bit away. For Korean, Kim Jong Grillin and Frybaby. Coredam is probably the most real but it’s far away. Desserts you have to try Bakeshop, Pixomatic is fun too. Best Mexican near there is taqueria los punales.
