Not at all. I use two apps called PhotoPills and PlanItPro that are designed for calculating the position and timing of this type of shot. So the shooting spot was determined well in advance. I just had to hope for clear weather, arrive in time to get set up, and take the shot.

Not necessarily photopills. There are other apps like sun surveyor or planitpro. But thats just the second step. At first you need a vision of a shot no one ever took before, spending a lot of time with scouting, the apps are for finetuning then.

i feel like there's a point when the light flicks on and you "get" PlanItPro. Im not there yet. So i hope so.
