First trip up to the Grand Balcon Sud today. Snowy around Planpraz but the traverse to Flegere was almost snow free.

Did 1/2 the VK this morning as a weighted hike. It’s been in my programme for a while but the first time I actually used weight (5kg of water which I dumped before running down).
Going to try it once a week now, & when the snow goes will do the whole VK & get the lift down

Hier en fin d'après-midi à Chamonix, une heure cinq de montée rapide vers Planpraz, puis descente de trente cinq minutes en courant. Ce matin, j'ai les cuisses en capilotade. Heureusement, j'ai une belle vue en faisant ma gym.

Cheers Rich. It's from right outside the Planpraz cable car station. Huge downpour in the town and dashed up as it was finishing - had a hunch that it might be nice.

Als wäre die Aussicht in Planpraz nicht schon überwältigend genug, gibt es hier aber auch noch eine Pendelbahn, die sich über schwindelerregende Höhen und vorbei vertikal empor steigenden Kletterleuten auf den über 2500m hohen Brévent begibt. #ChamonixHarmonie

It was very hot today. 1 litre / hour for me in those conditions, need to plan refill points.
I went out at 5.30pm & got the lift to Planpraz to get out of the heat on the valley floor and did my long run at altitude.

Žebříky na Grand Balcon Sud za mokra směrem dolů taky nebyly zrovna nic moc, hlavně s 14+ kg batohem.
V chatě dole využitý snad každý centrimetr místa a k večeři čočkový dhal, což někteří účastníci zájezdu zrovna moc nedávali.

I struggled to the top of Aiguillette des Houches, but the legs were cooked. Managed to jog the downhill & climb slowly to Brevent but could only walk the descent to Planpraz aid station.
By that stage, I was 40 minutes behind plan, I felt awful & couldn’t run…
