Very short mystery tale idea no.37: Poe's The Purloined Letter, but instead of a letter, I lose a package of flossers and find them weeks later, right where I left them, in plain sight, near the bathroom sink

The Restrainer and the Republic, and the Counter-Revolutionary Account of the Lodges
Alexander Poe’s “The New Order of Freemasonry” treats modern liberty as the removal of the restrainer and Freemasonry as the secret author of that removal. This paper answers that the documents condemn a civil concession they do not prove was plotted, and that a republic limited against arbitrary power, including clerical power, is not an apostasy. INTRODUCTION A young counter-revolutionary has found a costume, and he thinks it is a tradition.

talking abt my bff abt timelines, and she reminded me of the fact that Kes isn't mentioned at all in Resistance Reborn, which strikes me as odd if Poe's willing to ask Snap to bring *his* parents in unless Poe would do the same, so I'm still at that space of "where's kes? is he safe? is he alright?"

I make these jokes, I get blocked.

Someone who lives their entire life as one big misogynistic parody makes them, and it’s cutesy repost-fodder.

If we ever get the “It is impossible to pander to women” corollary of Poe’s Law, I claim the naming rights. 😠

obviously there's an element of poe's law playing out here but am i the only person on This Site who thought that the train-a-voice-model-to-read-to-your-kids post was pretty clearly a joke

Holmes was never quite fair to Dupin. In A Study in Scarlet he calls him “a very inferior fellow” for “breaking in on his friends’ thoughts with an apropos remark.” Yet in “The Cardboard Box” he does exactly that to Watson, citing “one of Poe’s sketches.” Was Doyle teasing his own debt?

Alongside Banned Books Week, this week marks the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's death (Oct. 7, 1849). Romantic, Gothic, & mysterious, Poe gave us so much of what we still appreciate from the dark and macabre today. What's your favorite piece from Poe?

With his Catholic background and growing up around Poe's house in Baltimore, I feel like he was made for this.

What a great cast, also

Poe's Law rules the universe.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Poe's Law in such pure form. This is exactly, beat-for-beat, what you might write if you were attempting to satirize the sort of person who desperately tries to pour slop into the infinitely deep pit inside their soul
