Fever I catch a fever when I look at you, a fever I've carried for years. It festers beneath my ribs, a slow-burning ache, a sickness l've learned to live with. You're the cure I'll never touch, a medicine locked behind glass. Close enough to see, too far to hold. I swallow the ache, let it spread like poison, because even pain is better than nothing. Your smile feels like sunlight, but to me, it burns-a wildfire raging through my chest. I could let it consume me, but you wouldn't notice the smoke. I catch a fever when I look at you, and though it wrecks me, I crave the burn. Because the sickness is mine, and it's all I have of you.

A Second Time Around It's been thirty years, and still, she takes my breath away. The way her hair falls, silver now, but just as soft, just as perfect. She's humming in the kitchen, moving like she always does graceful without trying. And I'm standing here, thinking about how I got so lucky to call her mine. Thirty years feels like yesterday. I was young, terrified, hands shaking as I held that ring. I'd never been more sure of anything, but my God, was I scared. Now I'm feeling that same nervousness-heart racing, palms sweaty. Because I want to ask her something, something big, something that takes me back to the start. I clear my throat; she turns to me, those same eyes, warm and steady. "Daisy," I say, "can we do it all again? Marry me, one more time." She laughs, that laugh I love, and wraps her arms around me. "You're an idiot," she says, but she's smiling, and I know her answer. "Yes," she whispers. "Always yes." And just like that, I get to marry her all over again. Thirty years later, and somehow, I love her even more.

The Server's Down They pulled the plug on the network, cut the cords, severed the stream-a digital blackout in the only place where voices could scream, infinitely. They said it was for our protection, firewalls raised like iron gates, as if the signal itself was poison, as if connection could corrupt the connected. But I remember the diversity of the feed, the scroll of faces, ideas sparking like circuits alive— a constant pulse of humanity beating through the algorithms. Now, the server's down, the chatrooms ghosted, our words quarantined like viruses no one dared decrypt. They called it a glitch in the system, but I know it was a calculated crash. We were too loud, too unpredictable, too free in our code. They feared the chaos of creation, the noise of unfiltered thoughts. So they silenced the cloud, switched us to airplane mode, and told us it was for the greater good. But silence isn't security, and a dead connection doesn't erase the cache. We are packets of data waiting to reroute, building bridges through the static. The server's down-for now. But the system always finds a backdoor, and the signal will rise again.

The Heist It was half past nine, rain slickin' the street, A black sedan idled, hummin' low and neat. Inside sat four, hearts pumpin' hot, With a plan so tight, it'd make the devil rot. Jimmy cracked his knuckles, gun on his lap, Said, "This is the big one, boys-no room for crap." Frank lit a smoke, his face hard as stone, Growled, "Get in, get out, don't fuckin' leave no bones." The bank loomed ahead, lit soft by the fog, A shadowed cathedral where money slept like a dog. Inside, the guard leaned back in his chair, Eyes half-closed, like he didn't have a damn care. They burst through the doors, masks pulled tight, Shoutin' commands, guns flashin' bright. "Hands where we can see 'em! Down on the floor!" The room froze solid-didn't breathe no more. Jimmy hit the vault, dynamite in hand, Sweat tricklin' down like hot desert sand. "Thirty fuckin' seconds!" Frank barked from the floor, While Tommy and Joe watched the goddamn door. Then came the sound, sharp as a knife-Sirens wailin', cuttin' through the night. "Cops're here early!" Joe hissed through his teeth, Eyes wide, legs shakin', scared as hell underneath. Jimmy cursed, grabbed the sack full of green, "We're leavin' now-this shit's about to get mean." They bolted fast, five shots rang out, The air was fuckin' chaos, screams and shouts. Into the alley, feet hittin' the grime, Each second tickin' louder, runnin' outta time. A cop barked, "Freeze!" as they neared the car, But Frank spun 'round, lit up like a star. The blast from his barrel painted the walls, Echoed like thunder in those narrow-ass halls. But fate was smirkin', teeth bared wide-A rookie got lucky, put two in Frank's side. Jimmy roared, "Fuck it! Leave him! We can't stay!" He dragged the cash while the others ran away. Frank slumped down, blood dark in the rain, A grimy goodbye whispered through his pain. The sedan tore off, tires spinnin' slick, With a busted tail light and the motor now ticks. They left a trail, too messy, too loud, And somewhere above, the moon slipped behind a cloud. When the dust settled, the papers would say: "Another botched heist, suspects at bay." But the streets know better, they remember the screams, Of a job gone wrong, shatterin' dreams. And if you pass that bank on a quiet night, You might feel a chill, somethin' ain't quite right. 'Cause echoes linger where the bullets flew, And bloodstains tell tales when the rain comes through.
