HPPAʻs Amanda at our Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau NHP store likes to take walks before work & document the park.

A morning glory🌸, pohuehue is an indigenous coastal plant. It forms a dense groundcover important for erosion control 🌊🏝️.

Kauna`oa & Pōhuehue.
Oil on Canvas. 28"×30"
Pōhuehue is often seen with kauna`oa, an orange vine. The relationship is parasitic but does not detrimentally affect the host; the two are able to exist in harmony. #nativehawaiianplants #artandnature #oilpainting @bsky.art @womensartbluesky.bsky.social

New Zealand forest streams are one of my favourite📷 subjects. This was taken downstream of the Pohuehue Falls, north of Tāmaki Makaurau. An ND filter was used to create a long exposure. From my Streams online gallery www.nznaturephotos.co.nz/stream/e4ba6....

So I managed to miss the best weather windows so just had to suck it up.

Back inside now in front of the fire.

A random selection. Akeake and purei from seed I collected and propagated myself, everything else from seed collected, processed and planted by birds in my backyard. Dug up and repotted.🌏

we rest there in the light

(shaft of light through the māhoe canopy from whence an entanglement of pōhuehue has fallen many years ago - the light on the ground is golden and we can hear the tīeke call)

a friend asked where the water comes from in the waimapihi creek when it hasn’t rained.

i got accused of speaking in riddles. me!?

so now we will venture past the ponder place, parting the patē, along the right fork, past two sky islands but before the third where the pōhuehue has fallen in tangle

A breezy afternoon in beautiful Waimānalo at Muliwaiʻōlena. Great group focused on removing microplastic from the sand, and invasive chinese violets from the area. We gathered and spent time in kilo of the Pōhuehue, which are continuing to suffer and die from potential impacts of a type of...

Sounds like a job for Pōhuehue (Muehlenbeckia complexa) - great ground cover that suppresses everything else. Though I’m not sure what it’s like to grow from broadcast seed.

#RailNews: The old signals shed at Pukekohe Station has been repainted in a celebration of Aotearoa’s native skinks and the pōhuehue vine by artist Chelsea Parker.

The mural is part of KiwiRail's beautification pilot to reduce tagging on graffiti hotspots.

Mahalo to our awesome team for the collective work today in Waimānalo. We focused our time on the increased micro plastics debris that are reaching higher onto the beach following this past high swell. I continued to gather data on the Pōhuehue seeds being impacted by the weevils.

Is there a more local option you could use?

I’m quite partial to pōhuehue. Once it gets going it’s brilliant.

I have spent much too long removing ivy from banks. This past Saturday, for example.

Lucky with the rain today! 🌧 Big Mahalo to today's tremendous team who showed up despite the chancy weather. The site needed it as quite a few rubbish piles cropped up since last week. The native trees and plants are loving this rain and growing fast. We found Pōhuehue seeds and planted them...

L. tama lives in the Mackenzie Basin, the upper reachs of the Canterbury Plain, and the drier eastern slopes of the Southern Alps. The caterpillars feed on pohuehue (Muehlenbeckia complexa).
