"Month after month, year by year, we're getting more and more threats against Poles. Now we're talking about the most important people of the country."

The Polish prime minister, Donald Tusk, confirmed that Russian intelligence services attempted to assassinate a Ukrainian-American citizen in Warsaw but the plot was successfully disrupted by Polish authorities. The operation, described as the first instance of 'someone on the order of Russia' targeting an American citizen within a NATO country, involved a suspect allegedly recruited by Moscow's secret services. Polish officials detained the individual on August 7, with cooperation from US intelligence agencies. Tusk highlighted that the victim was perceived as a threat to the Putin regime, though details about their identity and the nature of the plot remain undisclosed. The Russian Foreign Ministry has not commented on the matter. This incident underscores growing tensions between Russia and NATO nations, with Poland playing a key role in countering perceived threats. Analysts suggest the attack may have been part of broader efforts to destabilize Ukraine or disrupt Western alliances. While no direct link to current geopolitical conflicts is specified, the event reflects ongoing espionage activities and the heightened security environment in Eastern Europe.
